At New Life we are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission because making disciples is our foremost responsibility until Christ returns (Matt. 28:18-20). We know that Christ must be at the center of all our discipleship efforts and that all our ministries must contribute to the fulfillment of the Great Commission. As our Discipleship Mission states: we are always seeking to "bring new life by equipping God's people to think, believe, and live Christ-centered lives according to the Scriptures."
How do we do this? Through prayer, discipleship and Sunday School classes for all ages on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings, and through the benefit of rich worship and sitting under the preaching of God's Word each and every week. Our goal is to create mature disciples who believe the gospel and joyfully strive to glorify God through embracing the Christ in every aspect of life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being grounded in the Word of God and prayer, being steadfast in faith, growing in holiness, and functioning as a vital member of a local church are signs of a mature disciple. A mature disciple is also engaged in the advancement of the Kingdom of God and lives expectantly in the hope of Christ's return. Does all this really relate to fulfilling the Great Commission? In short, yes! We are called to make disciples from all nations, true, but evangelizing is not enough. Our responsibility does not stop with a profession of faith because Jesus implores us to "teach them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matt. 28:20). Can we teach what we ourselves do not know deeply and live out faithfully? We think not, hence our focus on discipleship within the body of Christ.
So how can you mature in your faith? We each grow through the process of disciple making. Discipleship enfolds believers into intentional and accountable relationships within the body of Christ, and is furthered through the regular use of the means of grace and the exercise of spiritual disciplines. In short, we believe that the best way for Christians to embrace and cultivate the preeminence of Christ is through life-on-life relationships in small groups that focus on prayer, Bible study, accountability and fellowship. These relationships provide the intimacy and security needed to grow towards maturity in Christ.
We offer discipleship groups for all ages. We encourage you join one of these groups and to seek to bring yourself and your family into a more mature understanding of your relationship with Christ as you simultaneously seek to create and enjoy deep and meaningful relationships with other Christians who will help to sharpen you as iron sharpen iron (Prov. 27:17).
